Review of Match Pix

Match Pix presents a fresh approach to enhancing remote and site-based therapy, as well as screenings, by fostering interactivity and collaboration between therapists and clients. The necessity for speech therapists to commute to various locations is eliminated, allowing for simultaneous engagement with materials in a unified setting.

Utilization of Match Pix

Match Pix serves as a supplemental application aimed at facilitating language development, particularly in achieving articulation goals.

Available Formats

• Drill Cards: Users can select a sound position and engage with cards to practice and master specific phonemes.
• Match Game: The app includes a 30-card matching game designed as an interactive component for reinforcing individual sounds.

Gameplay Overview - Match Game

In the Match Game mode, users follow these steps after selecting their desired sound and position:

1. Tap on a card to flip it face up.
2. Tap another card to reveal its face.
3. If the cards do not match, tap each one individually to turn them back over.
4. In Solo mode, matching cards will trigger a piano tone, prompting the user to seek further matches. In multiplayer mode, upon a successful match, the next player will be invited to make their selections.

Scoring System

The application tracks scores based on successful matches as well as instances where no match is found.

Device Compatibility

The app is currently compatible with iPad devices.

Unique Features

A built-in timer activates immediately. For single-player sessions, the 60-second timer resets until the player initiates an action. It is important to note that once two cards remain in the session, an alert will indicate session completion. Clients will be directed to the home screen upon acknowledging this message. Similarly, therapists will receive a notification signaling session closure. However, therapists should refrain from pressing OK if further communication with clients is necessary.

Modification Note: When two cards remain at the end of the session, clients should not flip them over. If therapy continues, therapists can opt for another sound selection.
